How To Change Lock Screen On Google Pixel 2

A custom Lock screen on your Google Pixel 2/2 XL looks really cool. You can set a picture of your loved ones there and make it that much more personal. However, the options to change the Lock Screen are somewhat limited. To get more, you might need to resort to using a third-party app.

Still, customizing the Pixel's Lock screen is super-easy, so there is no reason to keep the boring stock image there. Check out the steps below to find out how to change the Lock screen.

Change the Lock Screen Wallpaper

You can change the Lock screen wallpaper in a few different ways. To help you, we have selected the easiest method to get the job done. Here's how to do it:

1. Access the Customization Menu

Unlock your Google Pixel 2/2 XL and push and hold any blank area on the Home screen. The screen zooms out and reveals the customization menu.

2. Tap Wallpaper

Once you access the wallpapers, swipe to choose one of Google's images or tap My Photos to choose one from your Library. The Google Pixel 2/2 XL comes with some nice moving images to give your Lock screen a more animated feel.

3. Choose an Image

Tap on an image to select it, crop it to fit your screen, and then tap Set Wallpaper.

4. Select Lock Screen

The Pixel 2/2 XL allows you to set the wallpaper to your Home screen, Lock screen, or both. Since this write-up is all about the Lock screen, tap on that option.

Screen Lock Settings

As already mentioned, the options to make your Pixel 2/2 XL's Lock screen look different are somewhat limited. However, you can tweak the screen's security settings to fit your personal preferences.

1. Go to the Settings App

Navigate to Security & Location in the Settings menu and tap to enter.

2. Select the Settings Icon

The icon is located under Devices security section and it gives you the following options:

  • Make Pattern Visible

Toggle the option on or off to display or hide your unlocking pattern.

  • Automatically Lock

Set the period of time after which the screen automatically locks.

  • Power Button Instantly Locks

Toggle the button on or off to enable quick screen lock with the Power button.

  • Lock Screen Message

This feature might be the coolest. It lets you put a special message on the Lock screen. Type the message you want to use and hit Save.

Note: The options above might be different based on the screen lock type. You might be asked for your PIN password or unlock pattern to proceed with these settings.

A Bonus Tip

If the images and wallpapers that come with your Google Pixel 2/2 XL don't fit your preferences, check out the Zedge app. This app has millions of beautiful HD images to personalize your Lock screen.

Zedge also features the cropper tool which allows you to make additional customizations or make a live image.

The Final Image

Lock screen changes are fun and easy, but it would be nice if this Pixel smartphone allowed some changes other than the wallpaper. Hopefully, there will be more ambient screen options with future Android releases.

For now, you will have to make the best out of the options that come with the phone.
